# Governance

### Why a DAO

Bitcredit is built on the idea that money, credit, and financial coordination should not depend on centralized institutions. A DAO structure ensures that decisions, incentives, and treasury flows are governed by the people who use and build the system.

Traditional systems rely on opaque decision-making, slow execution, and misaligned incentives. In contrast, a DAO enables:

* **Transparency**: every decision, vote, and payment is verifiable
* **Permissionless participation**: anyone holding $e-IOU can contribute
* **Aligned incentives**: contributors are rewarded directly by the network
* **Resilience**: no single entity can control or shut down the system

Bitcredit uses a DAO not as a marketing label, but as the core coordination layer of its economy.
